Pro Tect Carpet Protection Film

PRO TECT ASSOCIATES, INC.

PRO TECT FOR CARPETS

FACT SHEET

PRO TECT for CARPETS:  a 3-mil polyethylene film (poly-film) with a substrate of adhesive applied to one side.  This clear, high quality flexible poly-film is highly resistant to punctures and tears.  It’s clear, so it shows off your carpet while it PRO TECTS.

PRO TECT for CARPETS helps to keep your carpet free from dirt and spills.  Reverse wound to make installation easy, it rolls into place and stays where you put it.  What makes it stay in place is a special blend of water-based adhesive selected for the building industry.

PRO TECT for CARPETS is a temporary protector, guaranteed not to leave any adhesive residue up to 45-days when used according to manufacturer’s recommendations and is suitable for installation on all commercial and industrial grade carpets.  DO NOT INSTALL ON HARD SURFACE MATERIALS such as hardwood floors, ceramic tile and marbles; adhesive will transfer and your finish may be spoiled.

When installing Pro Tect for Carpets on carpet that has been adhesive set, follow the adhesive manufacturer’s direction to be certain the adhesive is fully cured; adhesives give off a “gas” during the curing period which can cause adhesive transfer from Pro Tect for Carpets and other tapes.

A Word About Adhesive Transfer:

Adhesive transfer can be induced by four things:
1.Materials left in place beyond the stipulated 45-days.
2.Excessive traffic. (10,000 to 15,000 people)
3.Exposure to extreme temperatures, 100 degrees F. or more
4.Exposure to moisture; do not install on wet or damp carpet.

Should adhesive transfer occur, the adhesive can be removed by steam cleaning the carpet.  The best results are with steam temperatures of 190 degrees at the wand.  Add one cup of citrus cleaner for every five gallons of water.

For the Best Installation:  It may be necessary to vacuum your carpet to assure the best adherence of Pro Tect for Carpets.  Carpet manufacturers and installers may not take care to remove the residue left from manufacturing or installing your carpet.

  • Tub Surface Protection During Construction

Tub and Bath Liquid Mask can be applied and left in place for as long as twelve months with no adverse affects on the finished coat’s surface integrity.  It will retain its installed properties when submerged, as in a plumbing fixture wet test, for up to 48 hours.  However, there will be a discoloration until the protective coating dries.

    1.  Before applying this product the surface should be free from dust, abrasive materials, oil, moisture, and any other substance that may damage the surface.
    2.  Do not apply this product when surface or ambient temperature is below 40 degrees F.  Keep this product from freezing.  Materials that are frozen will separate and can not be reconstituted.

  • Fast, Agile Floor Protection

80 mil thick and with a non-porous backing, floor runner is a quick and flexible way of protecting hardwood and finished floors during construction. The non-slip backing clings to the floor surface when weighted and then releases when the weight is removed.  When not weighted the runner is light and stays in place without using adhesives or tapes.

Remember that new floor finishes need to “cure” before applying surface protection and are not considered “cured” when dry to the touch. Consult floor finish manufacturer's specs. Additionally, floor runner is slip-resistant on a clean smooth floor.  If dust or other fine particles accumulate under the Runner it will lose its slip resistant properties.  Cleaning the backing under surface of the runner can restore its slip-resistance property.
